I first spotted these Yves Saint Laurent shoes early this morning, in my Sale Mail from Shop It To Me, and I dismissed them as, well, ugly. Platform fringed loafers -- complete with a chain on the vamp -- in suede? As peep-toe slingbacks yet? WTF? ...But they stayed on my mind all day and so I now pronounce them ingenious!

There's a sale on Lauren by Ralph Lauren tights right now at Bloomies. I like the Microfiber Argyle Tights. Something about argyle just seems to be appropriate for a librarian. *wink* Sale runs (not the hosiery!) through January 2nd.
PS Does anyone find the notion of Spanx hose a little odd? I mean they began as just the tops of pantyhose, and now they've added legs again, WTF.

Not sure how I feel about these Le Bourget Hoisery Gallieni Marine Tights... I'm thinking of getting them for my grey wool skirt -- but never with so much print! ...Librarians shhh people, and I guess that look is too loud for me too. *wink*
A Slip Of A Girl shows us Bondage Tights, which reminded me of the Oroblu Mode Judith Black Hold-Ups... Like ASOAG, I too wondered about hosiery knit "around" the leg. Will they stay in place? I'm skeptical, especially with a stay-up stocking style (I love my garters and do not trust silicone strips enough to really like them). I'm pretty sure the Wolford tights predate the Oroblu (these bondage tights were part of Wolford's last Fall-Winter collection), so I wonder if Oroblu copied the look in a stocking... And I also wonder if Wolford passed on making "bondage stockings" simply because fall/winter 'tis the season for more practical tights?
When thigh-high boots were for hookers, strippers & other provocative women? I do. But now, eh, not-so-much. I've long worn black thigh-high leather boots like intimate secrets, hiding beneath long skirts... I've enjoyed it immensely. And I'm not sure I will ever want to proudly display them. Shy girl or no, I like having a few secrets -- that I may choose to share *wink* (Jimmy Choo black leather thigh-high boots; sale found via Shop It To Me.)

Last week I started classes again. I can only afford to go part-time, but hey, I'm gonna get there, right? One thing this means is wearing less sexy shoes, more practical shoes. I can get away with wearing the spikiest of heals where I work, but as a student, it tends to give folks the wrong impression -- as if "sexy woman" and "serious dedicated student" were mutually exclusive concepts. Whatever! While I'd like to prove that stupid theory wrong, my educational plan is already on the slow-track, and I literally cannot afford to fight that fight. Meanwhile, here's proof that practical shoes can still be sexy -- just as reading always is *wink*
These "Super Suspenders" from Henry Holland By Pretty Polly are an amazing feet feat of trompe l'oeil!
The faux garters or mock suspenders are created using a thicker more opaque band of tights over a fine sheer upper panel at the top of the thigh, fooling the eye into seeing an actual garter!
Now I know die-hards like Slip of a Girl probably won't give up their real stockings, garter belts, garters dangling from their girdles, etc.; but for girls like me who have jobs which require a bit more stable and presentable hose for wearing on the library floor, these are awesome.
I'm in love *swoon* Can you hear my heart go pitter-pat? I'm buying buckets of these for fall. Practical and sexy!
My dream library comes complete with 24-hour on-call foot masseuse. Now that would greatly enhance my reading and relaxation hours. In fact, I think all public libraries should have such services -- attendance and funding would increase dramatically.
Books lay at the feet of the Library Ladies to A), draw your attention to their shoes and feet, and B) inspire you to be helpful and get down on your knees to pick the books up -- what happens next, well, that's a private fantasy conversation *wink*
I'm pretty sure I go this pretty vintage illustration by Bevan Petman from A Slip of a Girl; but transferring what could be saved off my old computer resulted in some meandering, unmarked files -- it's like herding cattle on a hard-drive lol
